Overview of the WordPress Admin Dashboard

 

The WordPress Admin Dashboard is the first screen you will see when you log in to your WordPress site. It is the central control panel from which you can manage all aspects of your site.

The Main Menu and What It Does

The main menu is the horizontal row of options at the top of the WordPress Admin Dashboard. Each option in the main menu will take you to a different screen where you can perform various tasks.

The main menu options are:

From here, you can upload your file from your computer or select it from another location such as your Google Drive account.

The Second Option is Library in Which you can see all the media file available on your website. You can also edit, delete and view detail of any particular media file.

Appearance:

This section allows you to change the look and feel of your site. You can install and activate new themes, add and manage widgets, and more.

Under Appearance there are various option available:

Themes: It allows you to install and activate new themes.

Widgets: Widgets are small blocks of content that can be displayed in various areas of your site such as the sidebar, footer, and header.

You can add new widgets, edit existing widgets, and more.

Menus: It allows you to create and manage menus for your site. You can add new menu items, rearrange existing menu items, and more.

Plugins:

This section allows you to add and manage plugins on your site. Plugins are small programs that add functionality to your site.

Under Plugin there are various option available:

Installed Plugins: It displays all the plugins that are currently installed on your site.

To deactivate a plugin, click on the “Deactivate” link under the plugin that you want to deactivate. This will deactivate the plugin.

Add New: It helps you to install new plugins.

Editor: It allows you to edit your plugin files directly from the WordPress admin area.

This section allows you to add and manage users on your site. If you have a multi-author site, this is where you would add new authors and manage their permissions.

Under Users it has various option available:

All Users: It displays all the users that are currently registered on your site.

To delete a user, click on the “Delete” link under the user that you want to delete. This will delete the user from your site.

Add New: It helps you to add new user.
